It's fascinating and we are well and truly courting the law of unintended consequences - a very dangerous game .
I'm not sure we will see many shaler's go bankrupt . Just don't think it will happen .
That said , there are plenty of industries which went deeply into debt to get established and went bankrupt and it was the people who hoovered up the assets minus the debts who became the big winners , e.g. Railway Mania .
The last thing indebted Big Oil will want is the emergence of debt free competitors .
Big Oil will get much more bang from the buck from M&A than offshore exploration .
Very very glad I didn't buy shares of rig operators like Transocean .
