At this stage you are looking for the size of the pipe under the rig between the pontoons. It will be directly below the derrick.

If the piping is large (20 inch diameter), generally white, with two smaller pipes running down the sides then you are looking at the marine riser. This indicates that they are running/ have run the BOP. I suggest you google a picture of the above for your reference.

A smaller pipe (4-5 1/2 inch)means they are still drilling top hole.

No pipe for an extended time means they are dealing with one issue or another.

The company ann says they will be running the BOP on Sunday. If this is the case you will see the same large diameter pipe being lifted up the catwalk to the derrick then run through the rotary table.

It will be like watching grass grow.
