The easiest way is to use google earth-position Newcastle and Nelson Bay on the left-as you move your cursor you will notice the co-ordinates on bottom of the screen change.Alternatively you can use the distance function(small ruler in top bar)-start at Newcastle and go due east 55klms.From here you will notice that Nelson Bay is in fact much closer(29klms)-my vantage point is Lilly Hill lookout which is also marked on the satellite pics(160mtrs high which should give a distance to horizon of 45klms)
