Just passing the time doing some calculations.
As stated in a previous post, I have found out that a successful hydraulic stimulation in the sandstone layers such as at our Myall Creek well, if all went correctly, could be up to 200 metres from the well bore. This is dependent on a number of factors of course, including permeability and tightness of the sandstone layers. The results boggled my mind.
Using the pi R sq calculation, a total depth of 300 mtr, at a radius of 200 mtr = 37,680,000 cubic metres, or roughly 0.037 km3.
At a more conservative calculation of a radius being 100 mtrs, I get 9,420,000 mtr3 or roughly 0.0094 cubic kms.
Does anybody find that interesting, or do I have to get a life? Hmm, maybe time for a walk!
