I'm not disagreeing with your notion that the profits from WOW stay in Aus as apposed to Aldi heading back to Germany . The point that I am making is that the profit from the supermarket chains are derived from 2 modes , the first being at the purchase end of the transaction from a primary producer and the second being on what they decide to sell the product for . Coles with thier down down prices are down campaign and WOW with thier drive to compete ultimately ends up in the primary producers lap . At some point the primary producer says enough is enough and pushes back . This announcement is a good example of that . I don't think for a minute that these people would walk away from 108 million in sales revenue willingly . There was clearly no profit left in it for them . It's an age old problem that won't go away . Makes for better value for us but at some point opens the door for imports
Just my take on it .
