"Consumers in the South West Integrated System pay a subsidy called the Tariff Equalisation Contribution which allows power prices charged by Horizon in the regions to be the same as those in the metropolitan area. This year the cost of the subsidy is $167 million."
A very interesting article in which building Microgrids in regional areas could benefit CCE in a major major way in WA:
https://thewest.com.au/opinion/paul...competition-to-was-power-sector-ng-b88747250z
"There’s also the subsidy the Government pays to both Synergy and Horizon called the Tariff Adjustment Payment that represents the difference between Synergy’s cost-reflective tariffs and the uniform tariffs paid by customers. The combined TAP is about $155 million.
What if Western Power were able to have built (by others such as CCE) microgrids in Regional areas that could save 10's if not hundreds of millions of dollars?
Would this bring down the cost of electricity for the consumers in Metropolitan areas in that they don't need to prop up the bush to such an extent going forward by maintaining poles and wires over long distances? Damn right it would.
CCE going from 10MW at Northam to 100MW at Mungari is just the tip of the iceberg I find in WA. I think a whole new industry is on the drawing board for WA in the creation, development, building & installation of Microgrids in regional areas of this state.
MO getting the approvals & grid connection for Northam in the bag can't be underestimated.
Look how quickly we have suddenly jumped to getting Mungari onto the books....exciting times ahead I find with a change of government that have quite simply been to Carnegie's major benefit.
1. Albany Wave Farm
2. Northam
3. Mungari lease proposal - Kalgoorlie Gold Region
just for starters...
I wonder what we can look at in the Pilbara mining region...Hi Twiggy... Hi Gina how ya'll doing up here.
Gee you both own Cattle stations as well as Mining Leases....that's cool... Have you every heard of a Microgrid?
This is where those board members of vast experience come to the fore!
