This has been mentioned before - there is misinformation regarding laterites and their place in grade 1 nickel and cobalt supply.
Some laterites only produce the lower grade ore but there are some laterite projects which are very advanced and will include the downstream processing which will supply the Nickel Sulphate and Cobalt Sulphate directly to the battery manufacturers specifications.
There is room for everyone and this supply will be met by both sulphide and laterite projects
Sulphides are higher grade and lower capex projects but require additional downstream processing to convert the sulphides to sulphates
Laterites are lower grade and higher capex but do supply the end product the battery manufacturers want (As NiSO4 and CoS04)
The benefit that the laterites have is they have so much Cobalt that circa 40% of their revenue comes from Cobalt
Much has been said of the EV revolution - this is only going to grow - and most substantially as we head toward 2030
Plenty of time for St George to be right in the thick of it in years to come
And the DRC is running into all sorts of problems with Katanga having Uranium contamination preventing it's export
We live in interesting times - and all Nickel Cobalt companies (sulphide and laterite) that prove to have economical deposits will benefit immensely
Cheers and GLTAH
