Not so fast Mr pockets .

Laterite provides the bulk - and is main requirement into stainless steel , this where laterite ( nickel pig iron ) is in high demand .
And is the main story + Driver for nickel pig iron .
Demand will continue for laterite ore - this is not new news .

*What we are seeing , and will likely see - will be recognition that there are~
2 separate Nickel commodity markets . **

Nickel sulphides are very much the preferred , and St.George Mines will possess high grade nickel sulphides , (with allied Cu, Cobalt , platinum metal , as well as Gold !)
*** BHP will be wanting Mt Alexander nickel for their nickel refinery in Perth , Kwinana ?
*note - this used to be their tenement land .

WA is angling also to be a hub producer of top quality batteries, battery factory installations . West Australia - being fully able to provide all of the key battery , high performance metals clearly into the future .

All of this is well - known and understood

SS demand , also the need and demand for steel alloying - as well as ‘steel ‘ which will have so much nickel percentage within it that is and will be verging on being stainless steel .

The big story for us , here , is the greater requirement for Ni , high grade Nickel as St George will produce - for higher percentage nickel in batteries and applications .
Forecast and occurring already - with a lessening off of present higher Cobalt requirement in batteries . (Due to high costs of Cobalt , and limited future ethical availability )

At the moment , high grade - High Purity Nickel Sulphide is not easily , nor economically near to being available -or able to be (yet) synthesised from pig iron . (HPAL)

Is -Chalk and cheese anyway .

Laterite is a bulk demand ore - saprolite from leached lateritic ore deposits in highly tropical mountainous areas - notably Indonesia , Myanmar , The Philippines, New Caledonia , and hoped for Solomon Islands story .
