Even in RC drilling when a hole has volumous water the Rig is unable to hold back the water, and even with smaller amounts of water when u change rods the water ingresses back into the hole - and so when the next rod is put on and lowered the rig then is fired up and uses the compresser air to flush out and then push the water back from the hole in the ground at depth so a dry samples can be achieved once your starting hammering - okay when not much water and when it is that case often first sample might be a bit damp and cloggey but the next 5 samples of each are dry, but if too much water, then all the samples return via the cyclone are fully wet and it is possible that within the hole contamination can occur between samples and gold is heavy and wants to stay behind in the hole. Also just sampling each wet sample returned to the surface is another process entirely different to that for the dry samples - care is needed here to, but also probably more duplicates samples etc to ensure some consistency in the assays.
