A bit slack for these days with quality control supposed to be there to cover such situations and RC drilling such that it is - i imagine the samples were wet and this is where the problem likely came in - i do not know if they disclosed that in the main body of text, not just in the appendix which has become a serious issue in that one can put a lot of issues in these appendix and unless read fully may give another interpretation to the language used in the main body of text.
