There are always options. Why couldn't they have have:
- cut expenses to the bone?
- sacked the expensive, part-time geologist?
- slashed director fees?
- slashed the fees paid to GM as per ORS example?
- taken a small loan from GM?
- had a rights issue where ALL directors actually participated and made it unambiguously known to the market that they were going to participate?
- waited for the judgement to be delivered?
I don't see anything particularly unreasonable in the above list.
