The US imported 148,607 mt of high-carbon ferromanganese in the first seven months of 2018 and 4,216 mt in July 2018—the lowest monthly level of the year—vs. 76,011 mt and 19,352 mt, respectively, in the same 2017 periods.
The largest suppliers in the first seven months of 2018 (July in parentheses) were: Malaysia, 34,595 mt (1,026 mt); Australia, 33,826 mt (0); South Africa, 25,906 mt (1,672 mt); Spain, 18,707 mt (0); Russia, 13,907 mt (0); and Ukraine, 6,038 mt (0).
Countries that already EXCEEDED their total 2017 exports (in parentheses) are: Malaysia (9,743 mt); Spain (17,636 mt) and Russia (6,643 mt).

The US imported 241,058 mt of silicomanganese in the first seven months of 2018 and 30,351 mt in July. In the same 2017 periods, US imports were 227,307 mt and 48,889 mt, respectively.
The major suppliers in the first seven months of 2018 (July 2018 in parentheses) were: Georgia, 65,472 mt (1,457 mt); Australia, 54,331 mt (8,929 mt); South Africa, 31,047 mt (2,000 mt); Norway, 19,130 mt (1,589 mt); Mexico, 16,129 mt (2,183 mt); Spain, 17,553 mt (5,488 mt); Malaysia, 15,900 mt (5,500 mt); Russia, 8,962 mt (2,962 mt); and Saudi Arabia, 5,011 mt (0).
Imports from Malaysia in all of 2017 were only 13,598 mt.
