lol indeed. my grandpa never sold a holding in his life or took a divi, just accumulated and compounded and died rich as bloody creases with most of the top 20 ASX in his portfolio. none of us knew until he passed because he wore the same brown corduroys most of his adult life, never upgraded the Volvo, or paid more than $6 for his bottle of dry sherry. On the other hand, i'm mid 30s, unencumbered of children, with no desire to breed, an appetite for travel, and just bought a house this year (mortgaged). My goals are a tad shorter term than old mate Warren and my pop, for the time being anyway.

FYI I just did a quick google and by 34 Buffett had a $1.8m stake in his investment company, and at 35 bought a controlling share in Berkshire Hathaway. Oh how i wish i'd taken an interest in investing 15-20 years ago.....
