According to this announcement Hanimaadhoo Island is the planned location for the first Protean Wave Energy commercial power and desalination array. It has a population of 1800, an international airport and excellent tourist accommodation and facilities. In taking over Clean Energy Maldives (CEM) the company has bought the approvals it needs to develop a wave energy farm on Hanimaadhoo Island. So when construction and engineering is completed I would assume that the company will go there first, as all that will be required is basically just transporting equipment over there and setting it up. So if I'm reading it right Protean Wave Energy Limited is much closer to earning from power and desalinated water sales than I initially thought.
