"Whenever I've made a lot of money in shares", the same here, the only two stocks that I hold that are above $9 are Bendigo Adelaide Bank which was by choice and the other is Mineral Resources which came about by them buying Polaris, the gain there was quite substantial.
Most of the "experts" say either buy the blue chip stocks or something like one p---k on your money your call says "buy on an up market". What has fascinated me for a long time now and that is how one announcement whether good or bad can affect the price, one happened today a firm called Australian Natural Proteins AYB, done nothing for so long so a simple announcement like "rice harvest completed" upped the sp 10%.
All this dyor which I see on so many posts is suggesting that everyone else is still wetting their nappies, so if someone comes up with something like "I have a gut feeling about this one" gets shot down, lambasted.
