Gage Roads Brewing has revealed plans to set up brewpubs on the east coast to bolster sales of its craft beer range.
Managing director John Hoedemaker told the listed brewer’s annual meeting on Wednesday the first of the microbrewery and taprooms could be built within 18 months.
He said Gage Roads was evaluating a first site in one of the capitals with capacity for 400 people and a $3 million budget. The expected build time for the taproom is 15 to 18 months, funded from cashflow and credit facilities.
Presentation slides from the meeting suggested a volume target of selling 500,000 to 1.5 million litres at such venues and events, leading to a hike in retail sales of packaged products.
Gage Roads has brewed 12.8 million litres at its Palmyra brewery in the past financial year.
The east coast venues are aimed at replicating WA beer sales in the key markets of NSW, Victoria and Queensland.
Those States already represents 54 per cent of Gage Roads’ national sales by value.
Mr Hoedemaker also said the company planned to relocate its sales head office to Melbourne or Sydney, depending on an executive appointment.”
