Yes, this one evidently comes with something of a colourful back-story. It's a great yarn, with a touch of "Lasseter's" about it.

I think it piqued Howard's interest when the anecdotal evidence fitted so neatly with the geological facts as he has found them.

Story goes that the family behind Ferdies, the Bergmans, has had its eyes on that Tanami ground ever since the 1960's when the father, then a water bore driller, claims to have hit a major copper strike in the vicinity of Graveyard Bore.

At the time, the hole was covered over and obscured in order to hide its exact location. But other parties managed to peg the area, and the immediate opportunity was lost.

Over time the exact location of the water bore itself became lost, but the story was firmly entrenched in family tradition - they really believe it! - and when finally they were able to acquire the tenements, they did.

And they've spent about $400k or $500k on the ground, which is a heck of a lot for these blokes.

Anyway, last year, they got the old man up into a chopper, and he identified the east part of the tenement...

...Which just happens to be where Howard has indentified some very interesting structural and magnetic targets.

    We're hunting for elephants here.

When the science tallies with the folklore, maybe it's time to prick up your ears.
