Its not just spodumene, and companies like Pan Asia Metals are getting into lithium mica with a view of reduced cost curves and in the risky political environment political of Thailand, then the lithium mica DTM have are a bonus down the track too when the wider market realizes that. Not to mention fertilizer by product of the mica.

Its all about economics of extraction, combining resources of land , labour, captial and entrenpreneurial skillsets.

Pretty sure they would focus on spodumene to get the ball rolling because it is the best marketing opportunity to establish a foothold and attract JV or capital. A journey starts with a single step.
