In the scientific world, it is completely unheard of to terminate a glasshouse experiment before maturity when investigating the quantity of yield. The yield measured before grain filling has been completed, is completely meaningless - why? because it all depends on the water content of the grains before grain filling has been completed - it is equivalent to harvesting grapes in your region when they are small green pinheads!
