I think the lesson here is to avoid the roll ups where some entrepreneurial type eg bright spark thinks it a good idea to bundle a few sort of like businesses into a package and then flog it all off to some hopeful share holders.

If there are synergies between businesses let one make take over offer for it/them and then gradually tie them all into the one package.
