It's pretty rare that a business can survive as a standalone brand (like Yowie)... really an existing player would need to pick them up rather than private equity.
As for the new shareholder... I'm not sure I've seen an example where they've exploited a cash box vehicle in the ways you describe. The only other investments in HHY appear to be Metgasco - MEL which was all cashbox, did a capital return, and is now invested and up 50% or so and CSE which they don't seem to control. They do of course have an aggressive style in pursuing cashboxes... anyway, just to play devil's advocate!
