re: Ann: GRK: Lawford 1 in Canning hydrocarbo... Hi Anatol,
I'm well aware of the Laurel potential, it's somewhat of an exaggeration but I'm not sure I've seen a drill hit it anywhere in the basin without registering some form of elevated gas reading. It is however not as immediately exciting as 500bcf of free flowing gas originally quoted as being the target (although 330 in the graphics) given the cost per mcf of producing shalegas vs free flowing and the more rapid commercialisation of a conventional find and hence my more immediate concern over imminent price action. In the long term I am of course more excited by the Laurel across the tenements than a couple of hundred bcf.
By funny I meant strange, not unserious. It's not often you go into a semi conventional gas drill here where the operator explicitly states they do not expect gas to be free flowing. Mathematically that describes the likelyhood of pretty much every wildcat ever drilled, but it's nothing a company ever proudly promotes ;). I suppose it's only natural as exploration paradigms shift towards unconventionals and it's not as if we dont know the Canning is tighter than a fish's bum trumpet these days either. Anyways, interesting times ahead. Looks like we might get a chance to keep on accumulating..
