Interesting. I suspect that for some strange reason you are being assigned with a Vodafone EU IP Address. The only way to tell would be by looking at the public IP of your service google "what is my IP?" and then seeing who that IP belongs to. Maybe when connected to Vodafone AU, they internally provide you with a Vodafone APN that belongs the the EU? I'm not entirely sure, but their advertising states that they use Optus, I can't see why they would partner with two providers in a given territory. Perhaps Optus roams to Voda, and this causes the glitch... Not sure, a bit beyond me...
Even so, if this is the issue, it should only apply to people falsely roaming OZ (testing) and those travelling to OZ. Remember it still works, just not well enough to provide VoIP quality.
Maybe thats why they arent linking the apps yet?
