IPL did their own deal with APA for transporting gas. Perhaps the figures quoted by CTP are ex backhaul deductions for existing pipes but then again the starting price should be 1.25 less than quoted for the older transmission lines anyway. I’m sure they cut a good deal circa 3.25-3.50?
Re backhaul, I don’t know how APA can fairly charge mt isa for gas purchased from say QLD at the same time Gibson island have purchased gas from the NT for a total of day 6000 miles when in total in reality the gas has only travelled 2-3000 kms leaving all that spare pipeline capacity for further deals. It’s not right.
CTP should be more sensitive quoting tariffs since small values in tariffs make bigger impacts on margins.
Evidently I don’t understand the tariffs or pipeline economics nearly as well as APAs McCormack but it seems like the GMRG might have been doing too much listening of his rhetoric.
I’m sure OGP is better placed to comment on the pipeline reforms and pipeline tariffs and energyquest ? Graeme Bethune seems to know it all too
