re: Ann: Kin Mining to Acquire Leonora Gold P... I have just returned from a week up in Leonora for the first time doing some camping and prospecting with two other Kin shareholders at Redcastle at my enthusiastic request and to experience life's outback in our historic goldfields.
MD Trevor organised two unbelievably nice "bushy" guides to ensure we not only had the best time possible but didn't get lost.
I also viewed a few of our projects on a day off from detecting. Bushy Lockie and I drove to Murrin Murrin to view the site around this historic area and Kin's drilling which is producing great results. It can only be described as a really good feeling area set in a valley backdrop of gently sloping ground up to a surrounding elevated shear.
We then drove slightly north to Mertondale which was integral to Leonora gold mining at the turn of the century with unbelievably high ounzes which now sits on Navigator leases soon to be Kin's.
The old mill and chimney stack is still present and lends for a perfect feel of the past. Well... when I saw Mertons reward open cut mine directly in front of the old mill I was staggered that here we were with an opportunity to purchase this high grade mine which is even listed on all maps of the goldfields.
Thanks to Navigator we also know it has 91,000 JORC oz(2004) ready and ripe for picking and it is also open at depth.
It gets better! We drove a few kms north to a mountain of tailings and pulled up on the other side. We got out of the car to a jaw dropping site of Mertondale 3/4 pit.
The open cut mine is around 2kms long x 200-300m wide and 100m from top to bottom. We drove down to it's depth and it is awe inspiring which is an understatement. What lies beneath the surface is extroardinary. So many faults, quartz veins, massive intrusions and I'm sure a geologist and mining engineers dream.
We walked from end to end and again it has a unique special feeling all it's own. This also has 110,000 JORC oz open at depth. As Trevor recently informed me this is only touching the tip of the ice berg. I spoke later that day to a notable older local who claimed there was 100,000 oz just in one face wall.
The remarkable thing is, Trevor in his days as earth moving contractor did all the excavation work over 18 mths during the eighties.
I have seen first hand the high regard everyone on the ground including locals have of Trevor and he knows the land better than anyone having a farming background and also bought up his family in Leonora. He has the respect of the local community and are all impressed by how much has been achieved in such a small time. He also has the regard of the local indiginous community and even speaks their native tongue Wongi.
I know this side of Kin's MD and I also have spent quite a bit of time with Trevor listening as he explains all aspects of operational mining, including how best to optimize and produce a higher grade result through his many years of knowledgable experience. His knowledge of geology and our earths formation and evolvement also makes for fascinating listening.
Not only this but I see a man absorbed and happily engaged in reams and reams of provided independent reports and results made available by Navigator. Their 7 years intensive workings and research at an expense of 20 million dollars is gladly appreciated and accepted as part of the Navigator acquisition.
The reality is we have bypassed this huge expense and will acquire at minimal cost this asset which is known so well and easily capable of initial production in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
I only had the opportunity of viewing 3 open cut Nav mines including Raeside 134,000 JORC oz(2004) and still included are Cardinia 199,000 JORC oz(2004) which is another extroardinary part of the package along with Gambier Lass.
This newly aquired ex Navigator Leonora project is the centre piece surrounded by Kin's other 6 leases including the already proven Murrin Murrin and soon to be tested for the first time co Govt funded Mary Bore.
Over the next few years Kin will become a tour de force and we need to give full support to our team and engine room MD Trevor,Geo and mapping Fritz, Geo Paul, and Chairman Terry.
Cheers to us all.
