Well like all Alkali metals, Lithium is never found raw as it is too reactive with water. I would imagine the whole area has trace Li in the soil, streams and plant matter to some extent but in reality most would be fixed into clays in that lateritic layer I believe. But certainly nothing like the concentrated salar brine waters of the S.American altiplano and in any case commercially unfeasible. The end game here is hard rock Spod as this produces the best battery grade Li and ideally we wanted it with as little Iron as possible. I see from PLS's latest update that they might not have been telling the whole truth re their Iron levels of their final Li concentrate. It looks to be over 1% which is not good. Manono (and hopefully Kanuka & Kitololo) is extremely low in Iron which is a massive win from a metallurgical perspective.
We just gotta find it, which is always the challenge with Lithium as aerial gravity/EM techniques do not work, you gotta drill and sample your way to victory!!!
