You refer to the event as a blowout, but this is not correct. A blowout is where the well fails and loses containment and needs to be controlled then shut in and redrilled. This incident was an unexpected release of gas but the well did not fail or lose containment. A workover of the well has been required due to foreign material entering the well but this is very minor compared to redrilling.
