to be fair to STX it isn't their responsibility to explain every announcement in layman's detail. We all have a responsibility to make some effort through personal research/education, or via forums like Hot Cop to educate ourselves/each other about this stuff as we go.
Announcements are written for industry educated peers like fellow O&G engineers, broker & institutional analysts who want precise facts, not story book explanations.....
I agree, at times this is very frustrating but the truth is we come last in the "need to know" chain of command. It's all about getting the necessary info to the experts in the cockpit FIRST....after that there is time for the passengers (in cattle class) to rat around and comprehend the situation.
