Hey, I think you misinterpreted the part about the nitrogen. What they are saying is that the nitrogen was not able to move the particles( sand, solids) that were blocking the well, back up to the surface. Not that the nitrogen failed to come out to the surface. There are a lot of reasons why this was not the case. The coil tubing would have drilled through the blockage and most of the blockage material would have come back up to surface. (anyway, that's how I read it- maybe I have rose coloured glasses- but they're changing colour slowly)
