I am guessing most believe the sudden spike of gas caused the "heap of sand in the bore" to further quote Noel1962. Let me who I admit has never been over enthusiastic, even though I placed my hard earned into it, moot another possibility.
What if the sand caved into the bore before the surge in gas; ie prevented the constant flow of gas which wasn't exactly a huge amount according to Strike's announcements, and then the pressure of the gas unable to escape increased and consequently surged out for a brief time before more sand filled the bore and hence we are where we are now.
I guess the scenario I am suggesting will be shot down and dismissed out of hand. But the gas spike we all want to acknowledge just might be artificial.
Bring out he guns and shoot my theory down..... psi81 ain't no longer hanging around to get his thoughts.
