All mining companies are risky in that they are totally dependent on commodity prices. This is nothing new and affects everyone in our field. If for some reason BRL decides to pull out I’m willing to bet one of the other suitors that have been in discussions with JAL will step up to the plate. However, with the NZ government growing more and more green I suspect BRL is desperate to expand operations to a more coal mining friendly jurisdiction. Finally, I honestly believe this deal with BRL will flush out those other suitors (Chinese/Indians) who will eventually make a TO for the whole company.
