I personally try to find micros with potential and good prospects for the long term. If they hit then I'm in the plus column, if they don't I write the loss off on taxes against any gains I make with something else. I find the risk/reward method works best for me. I'm not trying to change YOUR investing philosophy either. Some people lose money on a stock and become as bitter as on old lemon. Most people know the risk and hope for the best but don't dwell on it if something goes a little sour.
