Well no I don't find this company to be particularly morally problematic actually. They were once, but their new financial product range I find to be of higher quality than most consumer lenders - especially when compared to credit cards. I suppose you don't have any investment in the banks though.
Their instore second hand range was always something I enjoyed from when I was a child to today, and as a student I was able to ease my own short term financial pressures on a couple of occasions by selling unwanted cds and an old stereo. Perhaps you have never needed to make use of CCV, in which case you should consider yourself fortunate.
The reality is that many people - and unsurpringly not just those who are well off - will need access to credit at times and its not for those looking from afar to judge them for their misfortunes, nor to deny them access. CCV provides a service that people will use whether companies like it exist or not. Personally I believe its better that we have larger entities like CCV that can be monitored easily, rather than people needing to resort to underground lenders or worse (credit cards).
I welcome the new regulatory environment which prevents the race to the bottom that we saw in the past and protects users from unsrcupulous pracrtice. It was during the development of this framework that I began purchasing CCV.
The media have been giving smaller lenders a hard time but I'm not one to believe everything I read and I do suspect in part its a witch-hunt from the traditional media's advertisers and sponsors - the real purpose of which is a form of rent-seeking.
Fortunately, the response from regulators has been adequate and sensible.
