If you believe this company is undervalued (as I do) then as a shareholder I'd much prefer they pay them in cash. For example if in one year the share price is doubled well we literally payed him twice as much as we had to. If you believe the share price is overvalued its a good deal buuut why would you invest in the company?
Realistically its a small amount but its symbolic of not putting shareholders first.
In terms of salaries just look at the director's compensation Vs other companies of a similar valuation.
