Snow Angel, it is a bit like looking through a cracked, rear vision mirror to suggest that AEF has a P/E of 51. For a start AEF spent a significant amount of funds in the last financial year rectifying two different admin issues. And for this reason there is a stark difference between statutory and underlying earnings.
These admin issues are fixed. The underlying earnings are the best indicator for the future, and that it was the market is looking at. Underling earnings should be at least $4.5M or more for FY17 which puts them on a historical underlying P/E of 25. I would say that given we are already half way into July, the market is starting to think about what earnings for FY18 will be.
But I am realistic to know that even a P/E of 25 is a tad high and the probabilities are weighted to some sort of fallback from here...
Cheers
