Kiwiboy, the holders of SUN shares as at the close last night will be getting the 33c dividend on April 5. Anyone who buys today does not get that dividend. Therefore, the shareholding is 33c less valuable today compared to yesterday.
Also, the company held reserves which are committed to be depleted by the amount of 33c per share on April 5. Thus, the company now has 33c per share less of assets to work with to make profit.
