If you read Kidmans ann just before they looked at the old cores you will see the reason why they looked at the cores...Joe Treacy had apparently made a deal with them for the lithium (or so he thought) so they checked the cores to see if they were selling too cheaply. The rest is history.
Joe had been involved in drilling the area for nickel decades ago...he knew what was in the cores...
Fair bet hes got a good idea whats in the ground next to it. Thats probably why he chose Simon as a sucessor, so it would be drilled properly.
But good news today. But a lack of excitement from the market...not surprising, Novo have shown the market that its hideously expensive and extremely slow to make any progress on conglomerate, so much so that noone else is doing much more than talking about plans to do further work. The result is the market sees that conglomerate, despite having potential, is just too hard.
With a fine gold component there is hope for MZN to not fall into the same rut.
