Plenty of emotion in this thread over the past couple of days. Exploration plays are speculative by nature and TIMING is crucial to investing in this space. When the sun went down on the exp market a few years ago they either shut the doors and deregistered or hung on for dear life. With the amount of dilution required to hang on given how long exploration was on the nose, if you were a holder in this space at that time of the cycle you got fried either way. Been there .... done that .... my first share play was first week in Oct 1987 .... how's that for timing? Here's why SEG is currently interesting to me:
They are actively drilling. Also SEG JV partner planning, and paying for, drilling at Fraser Range. Low market cap so any positive news will have a material impact on SP. What's with the new interest ex a HK registered 'substantial new shareholder'? If you were going to tread water from a corporate perspective why bother with a 1 for 35 consolidation? What's with apparent the lack of interest in getting on the 'Pilbara yellow fever' band wagon? Mining News article Oct 3rd took the p*#@ out of how just pegging ground in the region pumped the SP. SEG's Gascoyne real estate is adjoining some of this turf. Do your own research (remember my 87' form on picking the right time!) as to whether you feel things have turned for SEG. And Jesus, place nice, we're all just having a punt.
