Looks like they are getting closer if not already in to, discovering a VMS - "Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide", one type of which is the Kuroko-type in Japan they mentioned. VMS deposits are polymetallic - usually with a mix of Cu, Pb, Zn, Ag and Au, usually high grade with moderate to low tonnages (compared to porphyry copper or Iron-Oxide-Copper-Gold deposits).
Some better known examples: Sandfire's DeGrussa: 11million Tonnes at 6% Cu, 2g/t Au 14 g/t Ag Independence's Jaguar: 2mT at 3% Cu, 115 g/t Ag, 0.7% Pb, 11% Zn Rosebery in Tasmania: 33mT at 0.6% Cu, 2 g/t Au, 145 g/t Ag, 4% Pb, 15% Zn Falun, Sweden: 28mT at 3%Cu, 3 g/t Au, 20 g/t Ag, 1.5%Pb, 6.5% Zn Japanese average deposit: 6mT at 1.6% Cu, 0.9 g/t Au, 95g/t Ag, 0.9% Pb, 4% Zn Kidd Creek, Canada: 148mT at 2.3%Cu, 87 g/t Ag, 0.2% Pb, 6% Zn (only 0.01 g/t gold)
so they are pretty variable.
