The SPP was pointless and counterproductive
It didn't allow current shareholders to ameliorate their losses to any meaningful extent. The money it raised for the company was unneeded and immaterial
All it achieved was capping the shareprice for the foreseeable future as PO'd subscribers sell down their allocations for minuscule/zero profit
