Good morning Transversal,
Based on my observation of BYI's EPS history of the past 10 years, I couldn't see any consistent pattern:
Year: 1HY EPS, 2HY EPS (cents)
2006: 3.2, 2.0
2007: 4.3, 3.6
2008: 3.8, 3.8
2009: 4.3, 4.3
2010: 5.2, 2.8
2011: 5.7, 2.6
2012: 6.5, 7.3
2013: 7.6, 7.5
2014: 7.2, 5.8
2015: 7.7, 1.6
2016: 7.7, 1.6 (implied from the outlook)
There were some years when 2HY earnings dropped significantly to less than half of 1HY earnings.
I will continue to monitor the pattern to see if this worsens in the future. Whether or not I'm too worried about this now, the answer is not so much. This is because the company had been managed quite conservatively in the past and its financial viability is still very strong.
Have a nice day!
