sdi are a true minnow in this field, a couple of the larger groups dentsply and sirona are merging and they have a market cap of $8.5bn and $USD6.2bn but they do all dental products. GC fuji is for japan and forgot the european company.
There is a lot of market share for SDI to take but they need to be developing more products so that they can sell a full suite of product.
Once a dentist uses one type of product they don't tend to change unless it is easier to use or better. Even if it was significantly cheaper they probably still wouldn't change. I.e. like printers and ink but with no generic ink option and no incentive to save money.
I think there was a eureka interactive interview where they said they weren't able to hire the best salespeople in the americas because they couldn't afford it revenue wise at the time but that they were putting better people in place now.
Seems like an odd comment for a CEO to make and not sure how most investors would take that but he is moving along now for his daughter.
