What a ridiculous comment. If you owned a barrel of oil or a tonne of iron ore or pound of copper, would you expect it to pay you a dividend?
NST are in the business of making money and returning it to shareholders. That is literally their only task: to create shareholder value. Most companies decide to return a slice to SH via divvies and some don't. Goldies are known for low divvies but my comment wasn't necessarily about the size of the divvy but the fact that we're stashing 14.5c per share (after all CAPEX and diva have been set aside) on top of an already huge cash store. So my point was around what is the plan for all that cash. If not being returned to SH when they can clearly afford to do so, then what?
