I am trying to conceptualize a modern society that breaks away from oil, but it is in everything. Computing, cars, buildings, home furniture and appliances, phones, clothing, agriculture, and so on.
I think, unlike Iron ore, oil has a lot more resistance based on limited supply. Iron can always be recycled out of finished products. Oil is finite.
