Finally figured out that the EDE shares are not an asset of TAS in the accounts. Instead, by consolidation, they included 100% of the Net Assets of EDE
From the TAS accounts:"As at 31 December 2018 Tasman through its wholly owned subsidiary, Noble Energy Pty Ltd,held 594,555,077 fully paid shares in Eden Innovations Ltd (‘Eden’ or ‘EDE’) (representing 39.08% of the total issued shares of Eden). Based on the closing prices on the ASX of EDE ($0.071) on 31/12/18, this investment had a market value of $41.2 million, which is equivalent to 8.5 cents for every currently issued TAS share."
But later, "The net assets balance of the Eden Innovations Ltd group included in the consolidated balance sheet of Tasman Resources Ltd as at 31 December 2018 was $18,533,082." That's 100% of EDE's assets but then they declare that there is a non-controlling interest of $11.3M - ie other EDE shareholders own more than half of that.
Still seems like TAS shares should be worth more than EDE shares unless there is a big liability in TAS that I don't know about. Are the remaining assets of TAS really worth less than zero?
