"...and it's going to take quite a bit more work to get the hi-fi sound quality we all hope for."
Perhaps, however according to the announcement:
"Before committing to a new process, the Company and vendor immediately launched a series of trials to validate the recommendations and performance of the new dielectric material, all of which showed extremely convincing results"
So they're saying they've remedied the cause of the of the dissipation issues (i.e. what's causing the audible noise) having already trialed the use of the new material.
"On that basis the Company and vendor redesigned the fabrication process flow were needed and have already begun to produce a large number of wafers that implement the changes and recommendations."
So they've already started down the path of getting more wafers. Probably ~4-6 weeks until they're able to confirm whether the new batch is demo ready, and a few more weeks after that to announce performance specs. It sounds like they have a high degree of confidence these will be the ones, otherwise why produce a large number of wafers?
The part I can't wrap my head around is why have 2 announcements in the space of 24 hours about where they're at, and why didn't they have the same info in them? If they hadn't issued Wednedays's announcement I reckon it wouldn't have sold off like it did. I also suspect that some punters may've either not picked up the differences between the two announcements, or assumed the info would be the same (normally a reasonably safe assumption give the duration between them).
