I was not predicting a market bust I was just indicating that such a possiblity is becoming more likely given the previous historic peridocity of such events. The US bull market is very long as a direct consequence of the money that has been created to escape the effect of the last crisis. A market crisis was only part of the reasoning why I would be short this stock over a 2 to 3 year period, the other reasons are the uncertainty around the mine life.
In answer to you question I invest where I can see value. If a project has a feasible mine life of over a decade and expected low costs you can ride out market gyrations and take full advantage of any new gold bull markets that may develop as a result, short mine life companies can't do this for you.
