Hey Woltage, something I was pondering on from your comment. Seeing there are so many assumptions being thrown around. As we haven’t seen the contract or been given the figures, we are all just throwing numbers up in the air.
Normally GMC would have required a HV grid connection for 2 smelters ned alone all 8 smelters for technical reasons. Even at the agreed 20MVA @ 20kV if it wasn’t for their proximity, they would have required industry standard distribution to the likes of 33kV. Which would now put them into the HV bracket.
So my question is how much does HV power usage go for?
Also as it states in the announcement they are classified under the agreement as a “premium customer” which would imply further discount.
Hopefully you can see where im going with this question!!!
Note: They used two different engineering notations in the one announcement which I think threw a few people here 20MVA and 20,000kVA. More than suffice as per Waltages previous comments.

MV for PLN is connections up to 30MVA and that is 20KV. HV is 70KV and for loads above 30MVA. So, with 2 furnaces and a load of 20MV the tariff would fall under MV.
