gowin, these are not baseless assumptions, but rather expertise in a field that you're obviously deficient in. Yes, I'm sure GMC management back in 2013 to 2016 looked at the power price but obviously didn't realise that it would increase so much and the biggest problem is not the price now as GMC produces nothing at the present moment. Currently at US$0.1o/KWh its already borderline, however in the future there is absolutely no guarantees on the future price of power in Indonesia. GMC management will plod on regardless as they want their pay packets and incentives.
Yes bananabender, "I would suggest that if you could anticipate those price changes you wouldn't be wasting time building smelters."
That is 100% truse, if you knew that the power price was going through the roof in Indonesia you would not build a smelter. ie OM Sarawak has a 20 year FIXED price power contract, currently at US$0.03/KWh and in 20 years time it will be US$0.045. In 20 years time OM Sarawak will still be 1/2 the price of GMC's power now.
gowin, its only facts that I'm presenting, its better to know than have your head in the sand
