Battery scheme launched in SA lat last year with target 40,000 installs, Sonnen had exclusivity for first couple months. Others now able to compete (Tesla/ LG).
Problem is the installers are just increasing prices to pocket the govt rebate (max around $5-6k), how do I know this? well 1/ I know the industry very well and 2/ I went and got a few quotes to prove it to myself from different installers.
I also have it on good authority only 400 installs so far of the target 40,000 so that tells you something in relation to affordability. Would be good to see better control over tax payers money.
Anyway its early days and yes batteries will take off at some stage, once they come down in price it will help.
My eyes although are on EV’s because as you may know if you have a Nissan Leaf you can already plug it into the house (no need for stationary unit).
